California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Update to COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement for Healthcare
On August 5, 2021, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) announced that all healthcare workers in the state of California are required to be vaccinated by September 30, 2021. You can review the State Public Health Office Order here. As stated in 1c of the order, students and trainees are included in this requirement.
The Health Occupations Center does not currently require students to declare their COVID-19 vaccination status to be enrolled in a training program. As of September 30, 2021, healthcare partners in the community that provides clinical rotations, externships, and internships will be required to verify that any student coming into their facility is fully vaccinated. For all current and incoming students for our Spring 2022 semester, please be aware that unvaccinated individuals will continue to be able to complete on-campus training at the Health Occupations Center, but due to accreditation guidelines, many of our programs require a clinical rotation, externship, or internship which may inhibit unvaccinated individuals from reaching certification or licensure. Please contact the HOC office if you have questions or concerns related to this new information.
The CDC Coronavirus Self-Checker can be used for screening. If you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 contact the office or your instructor immediately and do not come on campus.
