To begin classes in our spring semester (January 2019), come to a free orientation in November 2018.  Registration is not required for the orientation.

 

Come to a free orientation to get started at the Health Occupations Center

To enroll in any of our classes, please follow the 3 steps below.

Step 1:  Attend an orientation.

At this orientation, you will receive all information and registration requirements for the classes you wish to enroll in.  Any student wishing to register for any of the classes above must first attend an orientation.  Sorry, no children or pets at orientations or at the HOC Entry Screening Test.

Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at 5:00 pm

  • Medical Office Pathway
    • Medical Terminology
    • Administrative Medical Assistant (Prerequisite of Medical Terminology required)
    • Medical Billing and Coding(Prerequisite of Medical Terminology and Administrative Medical Assistant required)
  • Healthcare Interpreting(Prerequisite of Medical Terminology required)

 

Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 9:00 am

  • Phlebotomy Technician and Medical Lab Assistant

 

Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 9:00 am and 5:00 pm

  • Medical Assistant
  • Certified Nurse Assistant Pathway
    • CNA
    • Home Health Aide

 

Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 9:00 am

  • Dental Assistant
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
  • Pharmacy Technician

 

Step 2:  Take the HOC Entry Screening Test

While attending the orientation, you will sign up for the HOC Entry Screening Test.  This is a basic test that covers 7th and 8th grade levels of math and English.  You will need to pass this test with a minimum score of 70% to be eligible for registration.  The test will be offered several times the week of November 12, 2018.  You will be notified by email of your score.  The top scores will be given a registration appointment time.  Sorry, no children or pets at orientations or at the HOC Entry Screening Test.

Step 3:  Registration

Come to the Health Occupations Center at you appointed registration time.  Registration will begin the week of December 10, 2018.  Please note there is no on-line registration for the programs listed above.  In-person registration only.

Courses that do not require an orientation or testing are:

  • Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider – BLS - (on-line and in person registration available)
  • CEUs for CNAs (on-line and in person registration available)
  • Electronic Medical Records(Prerequisite of Medical Terminology required)
  • Home Health Aide
  • Understanding Cardiac Arrhythmias
  • Intravenous Therapy and Blood Withdrawal
  • EMT Refresher (Tentative – please call HOC office)
  • Math Review (short informational meeting required)
  • English Review (short informational meeting required)
  • TEAS Review (registration opens Monday, October 1, 2018)
  • Advanced Airways (Tentative – please call HOC office)

Things to remember…

  • Make sure to attend a mandatory orientation on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 9:00 am OR 5:00 pm.
  • If you would like to register for the TEAS Review class to prepare for your TEAS Test, registration will open for the TEAS Review on Monday, October 1, 2018
  • Vocational Nursing application will be posted on the Vocational Nursing page in early October 2018.
