Dental Assistant (RDA Eligible)





Course Description:

Strong employment growth is expected for Dental Assistants who perform a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties in dental offices. These duties may include:  working chair-side as a dentist examines and treats patients; sterilizing instruments and equipment; preparing trays for dental procedures; instructing patients on post-operative and general oral health care; preparing materials for making impressions and restorations; processing  x-rays; removing sutures; cleaning and polishing removable appliances; and making temporary crowns.  Front office duties may include scheduling appointments, receiving patients, keeping treatment records, billing, and ordering supplies and materials.  This program consists of 560 hours of classroom/lab instruction and 240 hours of internship where students gain on-the-job experience in a dental office. Upon successful completion of the class, students are eligible to take the State Certification. 

Prerequisites:   A United States HS Diploma/GED, immunizations, certification with the American Heart Association BLS for the Healthcare Provider and a passing score on the HOC Math/English Assessment test.


Fall Program Cost:  $1230.00 plus additional fees 
Additional fees required for the RDA test application, scrubs, fingerprinting with the DOJ/FBI, and textbooks.
