           Medical Assistants play a crucial role in medical offices.  In this course, you will learn to perform back office            procedures. These duties may include charting patient medical history, taking measurements and vital signs,            preparing medications and administering injections, performing laboratory procedures, assisting with minor               office surgery and preparing patients for examinations. Use and care for equipment, such as the audiometer, 
          electrocardiograph, autoclave and centrifuge will also be taught. Some front office skills will be included. This           program consists of 300 hours of classroom/lab instruction and 150 hours of internship where students gain               on-the-job experience in a medical office setting.  Prerequisites: a passing score on the HOC Math/English               Assessment test, certification with the American Heart Association BLS for the Healthcare Provider,                       physical exam, immunizations and a United States HS Diploma/GED. Additional fees required for background           check, LiveScan fingerprinting (if required by the clinical site) and for textbooks.
